Vol. 24 of the Hamamatsu Museum of Musical Instruments Collection Series features famous melodies from Viennese operettas of the late 19th and early 20th centuries heard on the famous 18th century Rococo instrument Blanchet, which resonated in Versailles, France. At first glance, it may seem an odd combination, but the many small, sweet dances such as wiener waltzes, polkas, and marches sung in various register combinations on the French-style two-tiered keyboard harpsichord bring out the beauty and new charm of the rich tone of the blanchet harpsichord.
