A Thomas and Thomas 10th Anniversary fly rod, 8', 2-piece, 2-tips. This is from a limited edition set of only 10 that were made in 1979, this one serial #7. Mint condition in a handmade curly maple box. This exceptional rod features an integral FAS walnut blank with the bamboo strips laminated from the swell through the grip and reel seat. Oven tempered wheat straw color cane done in a three up node pattern configuration. Tan wraps with cinnamon accents. Two burgundy and one black signature wraps at both the ferrules. Carbide stripper and with black snake guides. The varnish finish is stunning. The ferrules are oxidized swiss style with the collar on the males. The female ferrule is engraved with a tiny T&T logo. The grip is 6" and a large diameter western style. The reel seat is laminated and with a clever feature has a hidden pocket cap as well as a butt cap and ring so it may be used as both an uplock and downlock. The slide ring is oxidized jet black and is engraved "Tenth Anniversary" and the butt cap as the logo "Thomas and Thomas, Makers" in a cartouche. The bottom of the butt cap is engraved "Special Limited Edition No 7". The rod is packed into a magnificent curly maple dovetailed box with red felt retainers for the rod and brass latches and corner guards. The rod comes with a 9" x 11" certificate stating the rod's features, the owners, and was signed by Tom Dorsey and Len Codella with a notarized stamp.
