This necklace was handcrafted by Alexis Bittar in the 1990s and is an early piece from this distinguished jewellery designer. A torque collar style, it is crafted from 14ct gold-plated brass and clear lucite. This piece is detailed with abstract leaf-shaped forms in gold which are draped across the clear lucite. The back is stamped with a gold plaque that reads “handcrafted by Alexis Bittar”.

In excellent vintage condition with no flaws and no wear to the gold anywhere. It has a subtle hinge in the gold-toned metal which means that it will comfortably slip on almost all neck sizes.

Notes on Designer: Alexis Bittar is an American jewellery designer who began his own line in the late 1980s after initially selling vintage pieces on the streets of SoHo, New York. Originally from Brooklyn, he is recognised for his sculptural use of hand-carved Lucite, which helped redefine the role of non-precious materials in contemporary fashion jewellery. His work has been worn by Michelle Obama, Beyoncé, and Lady Gaga. He was awarded the CFDA Accessory Designer of the Year in 2010 and the Accessories Council’s Brand of the Year in 2014. His collections have been retailed through major luxury institutions including Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Harrods.
