André Courrèges’s namesake brand is having a moment. In 1961, after ten years honing his craft under Cristóbal Balenciaga, Courrèges launched his own fashion house. Today, the House is being revived under the creative direction of Nicholas di Felice and pieces from the early years, designed by Courrèges himself, become more and more sought-after.

From the House's higher priced ready-to-wear label and most likely a late 1970s to earlier 1980s design, this mid-calf dress is tailored from lambswool cloth to a typically architectural, cocooning shape. Cut with a high neckline, a V-stitched collar and inverted waistband, the slanted welt pockets at the hips balance the cut and panelled construction. At the back the dress is secured with a hidden zip and adorned with three pretty bows in stiff tonal lambswool - a playful detail typical of this beloved brand. The dress is fully lined and the original label inside the shoulder reads ‘Courrèges Paris Made in France’.

This elegant dress is in excellent vintage condition with no flaws of any note. It is composed of 95% Lambswool and 5% Polyamide, and the white lining is 100% Acetate. The label reads “taille O” which references the brand’s own in-house sizing system, not a standard size in today’s measurements, so please check our measurements below. The fabric does not have any stretch. We estimate a best fit for up to a size UK 8 or US 4. Our model's sizes are: Bust: 31" (80cm), Waist: 25" (64cm), Hips: 34" (87cm) and Height: 5' 4" (164cm) and she's a size UK 6, US 2. This dress was quite roomy on her waist and hips.
