This fabulous vintage dress was couture crafted in London in the 1960s by English label Roter. It is tailored from turquoise net with an overlay of elaborate, swirling ribbon work lavishly stitched onto tonal lace. Under this sits a turquoise satin shift-dress which acts as a lining to the sheer top layer. The silhouette is fitted; it skims the curves, nips in the waist and falls in a pencil-skirt style to below the knee. The back of the skirt has a small slit for ease of movement, this slit is lined with a flap of coordinating embroidered lace - the level of attention-to-detail expected of a couture piece. The dress fastens at the rear with a tonal zip and hook-and-eye clasp.
This dress is in excellent vintage condition; we noted only a few subtle frays to some of the ribbon work which can only be seen if you pour over the dress with the garment in hand. There are no size or composition labels and no stretch to the fabric. Best suited for up to a size UK 8-10 or US 4-6 with a slimmer hip.
