Driven by an absolute bare-metal architecture, the ER-4 achieves massive throughput capabilities at a disruptive price point, delivering up to 3.4 million packets per second (pps) for small 64-byte packets.

• Quad-Core MIPS64 Core: Powered by a high-efficiency 4-core, 1 GHz MIPS64 processor (Cavium Octeon III platform) backed by 1 GB of high-speed DDR3 RAM. This dedicated processing engine easily sustains heavy data streams, deep packet inspections, and firewall rule enforcement.

• 4 Gbps Line-Rate Routing: Supports true hardware acceleration offloading for IPv4 and IPv6 traffic. When handling packet sizes of 128 bytes or larger, the router effortlessly achieves full 4 Gbps aggregate line-rate throughput.

• Completely Fanless Silent Thermal System: Engineered with a specialized interior heat-sink framework that relies entirely on passive, non-mechanical convection cooling. With zero moving cooling parts, the ER-4 operates in total silence, significantly reducing structural failure points over years of continuous use.

• Direct Command Line Interface (CLI): Features an integrated front-facing RJ45 Serial Console port. Advanced professionals can bypass the graphical interface to interact directly with the underlying system configurations via standard industry command structures.

• Centralised Cloud Monitoring: Fully compatible with the Ubiquiti Internet Service Provider (UISP) platform. This integration allows multiple distributed EdgeMAX devices across various physical addresses to be actively managed, updated, and tracked through a single centralized interface.

Installer Chassis Placement Note: Out of the box, the ER-4 is configured as a compact desktop or flush wall-mountable device. For standardized 19" server rack installations, the ER-4 can be cleanly housed using the official EdgeRouter Rackmount Kit (ER-RMKIT), which is sold separately.
