Description

Utagawa Kuniyoshi, a renowned late Edo-period artist, was well known for his deep love of cats. He created numerous cat-themed artworks, capturing their unique movements and expressions with remarkable accuracy—something only a true cat lover could achieve. He also gained popularity for his anthropomorphized cat illustrations.

This Furoshiki design features a playful depiction of "The Cats' Tokaido," where the names of the post stations along the Tokaido route from Nihonbashi to Kyoto are cleverly transformed into cat-themed wordplays.
