The Marianne Roland Michel collection brings together the scientific documentation of the Galerie Cailleux. Based from 1923 to 2000 at 136 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris, this was one of the key venues for trading in 18th century French paintings, drawing and sculptures. This collection is named after its final director, Marianne Roland Michel (1936-2004), grand-daughter of the founder and renowned art historian, who considerably developed the gallery’s documentation and opened it up very freely for consultation by students and researchers. The transfer of this documentation to the Petit Palais allows us to continue this tradition.
