At the heart of the system is a revolutionary full frame 36 × 24 mm RGBW sensor with a resolution of up to 12,288 × 8,040 pixels. Combined with 16 stops of dynamic range and a built‑in optical low pass filter precisely tuned to the sensor, the camera delivers extremely fine detail, natural skin tones and smooth highlight roll‑off. The RGBW design improves sensitivity and color accuracy, making it suitable for high‑end cinema, episodic television, commercial production and demanding documentary work. 

The body is engineered for maximum rigging flexibility without compromising strength. It is precision CNC‑machined from aerospace‑grade aluminum, resulting in a compact and lightweight design that remains extremely rigid. Recording is handled via dual CFexpress card slots, supporting high‑resolution 12‑bit Blackmagic RAW for maximum image quality. At the same time, the camera can record lightweight H.264 proxy files, which can be uploaded automatically through the built‑in Ethernet connection to Blackmagic Cloud. This enables immediate access for editors working in DaVinci Resolve, significantly accelerating collaborative workflows. Extensive metadata, including lens data, camera settings and slate information, is captured automatically to streamline post‑production and color grading. 

Operation is powered by the latest Blackmagic OS, displayed on a bright 4‑inch Full HD touchscreen with 1,500 nits brightness.
